Rape / Sexual Assault:

    • You have the right to a free, anonymous, and confidential sexual assault forensic exam (a.k.a. rape kit). This means that you have the right to request an anonymously exam and the hospital is required to do the exam without using your full name.

If you would like to report a sexual assault you can go to the Special Victims Unit.

In Philadelphia, all free rape kits are conducted at the Philadelphia Sexual Assault Response Center (PSARC)  also known as the Special Victims Unit, located at 300 E. Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19124. You may call 911 or Special Victims Unit (215-387-9500) for transport. Remember that you have the right to decline filing a police report. Your rape kit will be properly stored in case you change your mind.

For more info about the rape kit exam or to have an advocate meet you at the hospital, call the 24-hour hotline run by Women Organized Against Rape (WOAR) at (215) 985-3333.
